Welcome to Ryan Subler Art, where creativity meets canvas. I am based out of my home studio in Lockport, IL. I specialize in original Oil paintings, Acrylic paintings, airbrush work, and drawings. My artwork is a reflection of the influential artists who came before, and my emotional response to the world's constant, visual stimuli.. Each piece is a unique blend of imagination and technical skill.  

 

From an early age, I would draw to pass the time at my father’s office on the weekends. Fueled by RC Cola, an endless supply of copier paper, and a crazy active imagination, my path was forged as a creative. I was destined to a life lived for the Arts.

 

My education in art includes his BFA in Painting & Drawing, (w/ an Art Education Certification) at School of the Art Institute in Chicago, and an MA in Curriculum & Instruction from Concordia University at River Forest. I also spent a fellowship summer at Oxbow School of Painting, in Saugatuk, MI. Starting in 2001, I passed on my passion for the Arts as a full time Elementary Art educator. A wonderful experience that shaped who I am as a person, a father, and an artist. I taught until 2018, at which time I returned to painting. I have a wonderful wife, and two great teenage sons. I am very blessed in these regards. My extreme interest in sports has lead to learning a new skill, in airbrushing goalie masks! Life long learner here!

I am a member of the The Artist Guild of Lockport, and The Frankfort Arts Association. My artwork has been exhibited at galleries including The Flower of Life Gallery, and Gallery 7. My work recently earned 3rd place at Gallery 7's, 2025 "Illiart" juried exhibition.
